POLPROWET and IFAH-Europe Declare Commitment to Promoting Responsible Use of Antibiotics
Both associations welcome the European Medicines Agency’s 6th ESVAC Report (European Surveillance of Veterinary Antimicrobial Consumption), as an important demonstration of transparency of antibiotic use in animals in line with the European Commission’s “Action Plan against the Rising Threats from Antimicrobial Resistance”. On a European basis the report shows a continued downwards trend of antibiotic sales for veterinary use.
The 70-th unniversary of PIWet-PIB (National Veterinary Institute - National Research Institute in Pulawy) took place on Friday, May 15th, 2015.
The whole event was under patronage of the President of Poland, Mr. Bronislaw Komorowski. A group od deserved employees of the Institute were given state medals with congartulations signed by the President. Prof. Zygmunt Pejsak on behalf of awarded employees gave a speach thanking for recognition and appreciation of the employees for their engagement in human being and animals health and welfare.
XI International Scientific (Buiatric) Conference took place in Puławy on April 17-18, 2015
This annual event gathered 38 sponsors and hundreds of veterinary practitioners, several international and local lecturers. Polprowet was represented by its members. Polprowet logo was integrated sign of many of the members booths.
Usage of antimicrobials according to the rule: " as much as needed, as little as possible" together with care about conditions in animal production seems to be a rational solution.
There is a high need to prepare guideliness of responsible use of antimicrobials. It should be prepared by us, veterinarians.
